Qualifications:
  • Ability to assist in the implementation of high-quality children/family groups, or programs
  • Ability to work as a team as well as perform duties independently
  • Ability to model and facilitate appropriate parent-child interactions Experience with working with a diverse population
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Google, and various computer programs
  • Multilingual preferred
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years working in an early childhood environment
Responsibilities:
  • Assist/Perform any activities or tasks as assigned by the Program Manager
  • Maintains appropriat professional relationships with families, adhering to standards of confidentiality
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to any social-emotional, physical, and/or academic needs
  • Utilize developmentally appropriate practices
  • Attend any Professional Development activities as needed/recommended by the Program Manager
Travel Requirements: Must have own transportation and valid CT Driver's License. Travel between schools and to other locations for work-related activities may be required. Mileage reimbursement will be given for documented, work-related travel using personal vehicle at a rate determined by the Meriden Board of Education. Client, family or child transport with personal vehicle is strictly prohibited. Terms of Employment and Work Schedule: The program assistant works 5.25 hours per day and takes a 30 minute unpaid lunch. Some evenings may be required based on program needs. Work days to coincide with the public school calendar. Position is subject to change or termination based on program needs and/or State funding issues. Upon hire: 2 Personal days, 2 Sick days upon hire; followed by accrual of days based on work hours; up to ten sick days per school year. No paid vacation; 11 Paid Holidays Salary: $20.00/hour Minimum Experience: 2 years early childhood experience preferred Probation: A 90-day probation period is required beginning with the first day of employment or reassignment.
