Position Type: Support Staff/Student Liaison Date Posted: 5/15/2024 Location: District-Wide Date Available: 08/28/2024 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Description: The Family School Liaison reports reports directly to the Family School Liaison Coordinator. The position requires the Family School Liaison to act as a link between the students, families, Meriden Public Schools and the community. The liaison will support parents as partners in their child's education by supporting and connecting students to MPS learning initiatives and community partners. One goal of education is to provide all students with services which promote each student's academic motivation and social development. However, some students continually fall behind academically and/or behaviorally at all grade levels. These students, over time may be withdrawing from school and are in need of additional support. The Family Liaison will work with students and their parents/guardian and teacher(s) as well as supplemental services personnel to assist these students in re-identifying with school, become more successful and to encourage access to the broad range of support services available to MPS families. Specific duties include working directly with students and families district-wide when directed. Students will be identified by the student's classroom and supplemental teachers to determine each specific need. The Liaison will act as a student advocate, conferring with school personnel and family to develop plans on how to best meet the student's needs. All identified students will be monitored while they attend Meriden Public Schools. Experience working with children and families and fluency with Spanish preferred. This is a 2 year grant funded position. Employment will expire at the end of the grant period at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. Health benefits are not available for this position.
