  • Ability to work with families of children enrolled in the preschool programs
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor services for preschool families
  • Ability to work extensively with agencies in the community to secure services for families
  • Ability to implement and/or design goals with the families to meet the needs of the child and family
  • Experience or knowledge in working with multi-cultural families
  • Ability to communicate with non-English speaking families (especially Spanish) is preferred
  • Ability to effectively present information orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Ability to collect, maintain, analyze and report data effectively
  • Working knowledge of community resources and needs
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling or a related field.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months SALARY: Classified Salary Schedule, pay grade 63 FLSA Status: ExemptPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Effectively and appropriately assess and addresses the needs, characteristics and interactions of students, families, staff, and community.
  • Uses knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school, and community to intervene for student success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, consultation/referral, program development, and coordination of school and community services.
  • Advocates for appropriate services for students and their families.
  • Consults and collaborates with stakeholder on behalf of students and their families.
  • Effectively plans, implements, and evaluates program that promote student and family success.
  • Advocates, facilitates, and contributes to Family Services accountability for outcomes aligned with local, state, and federal policies and guidelines.
  • Provides consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel and community agencies to enhance student growth and development.
  • Delivers a planned and coordinated program of family services.
  • Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skills.
  • Effectively maintain accurate records and adheres to timelines and standards. Entering and reporting data with extra care and constant attention to the security of confidential student and family information.
  • Effectively build relationships with parents and families through collaborative communication, family engagement, goal planning and accessing community resources.
  • Effectively support families in meeting the educational, medical, and developmental needs of their children enrolled in the preschool program.
  • Effectively participate in interdisciplinary team in problem solving behavioral and emotional needs of the child as needed.
  • Participates in appropriate preschool activities that support families and children, including those planned after normal working hours.
  • Participates in training deemed appropriate for the position.
  • Effectively supports and assist the ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, Attendance) manager with the preschool application process as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, and walking, including repetitive motions.
    • Ability to operate technology for prolonged periods of time.
    • Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15-30 pounds routinely and 30-100 pounds occasionally.
    • Must be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills.
    • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Must be able to drive to variety of school sites.
