We are seeking a Family Services Specialist. The Family Support Specialist provides direct support to children and families affected by incarceration and leads community outreach for the purposes of program recruitment. In addition, this person will form partnerships with community partners based on an understanding of positive youth development principles, the criminal legal system, and the impact that separation and incarceration have on children and families. Salary: $29.12 - $31.86 Requirements Essential Duties: Completes intake orientation and relevant assessments with families of Incarcerated individuals to provide assistance Connect with caregivers weekly in order to understand family needs and discuss their goals associated with being a caregiver. Providing referrals and connecting families with social services organizations or resources including but not limited to: applying to any benefits they may be eligible for, making educational referrals for the children in their care and providing resources such as butterball checks in order to assist caregivers with providing food for the child(ren) in their care. Assists with recruiting for and managing family-focused programming Supports and observes participants in the program, documenting their progress and providing ongoing feedback in order to reach identified goals Documents all participant interaction in the form of a progress note in the electronic case management system Receives and responds to routine requests for information Assist recently released women with applying for any benefits. Works cooperatively with colleagues for the program and supports task supervision Participates in facilitation of agency training related to children of incarcerated parents Hybrid position but In-person attendance is required to collaborate with clients Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, or related fields; In lieu of a degree, a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of an additional three years of progressively responsible professional experience in the social service agency or will be considered Minimum of one years of direct service and outreach activities in a social service agency or association Non-profit experience is strongly preferred, with understanding of criminal justice and children of incarcerated parents Demonstrates knowledge of child and human development along with trauma-informed care is essential Key Competencies: Strong verbal and written communication skills Exceptional organizational skills Demonstrate ability to coordinate service delivery in a multidisciplinary environment which provides services to children and families affected by incarceration Demonstrate knowledge of community based service organizations in New York City Demonstrate ability to work as a member of a service coordination team Demonstrate proficiency with computer applications - Google Suite software applications or Microsoft Office software applications such as Word and Excel Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced work environment Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks necessary to accomplish goals Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, pay strong attention to detail, and time management skills Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions Ability to take the initiative and drive for results Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and build strong relationships Benefits of Working at Osborne Generous benefits include four weeks of vacation, tuition reimbursement, a flexible work schedule, excellent Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, and a 403(b) plan with a company match.
