TITLE: Family Support Specialist IIREPORT TO: Family Support ManagerSTATUS: Full TimeBACKGROUND: USI is a national nonprofit with extensive experience in the design and implementation of place-based human capital development strategies in communities that are undergoing comprehensive physical revitalization. USI represents a movement towards a future where all children and families will be stable and thriving, supported by our unwavering dedication to being results-based, data-driven, and equity-centered.JOB SUMMARY:The Family Support Specialist II serves a specific community or housing development by acting as both a social service expert and a community organizer. The Specialist provides individualized assistance to residents to help prevent housing instability, including conducting home visits. Additionally, the Specialist collaborates with residents and local service providers to create programs that address community issues and opportunities. JOB RESPONSIBLTIES: Develop partnerships with organizations to address community needs (e.g., after school programs, health fairs, job training). Coordinate relevant programs addressing community needs. Maintain relationships with community stakeholders and service organizations. Conduct resident home visits. Work directly with residents on interventions, assessments, IDPs, FDPs, service connections, and quarterly check-ins. Commit to strengths-based, family-focused service planning and a place-based approach. Identify resident's needs and locate community resources. Collaborate on neighborhood safety initiatives with the management company and resident leaders. Write grants for local programs. Maintain records of resident needs, progress, and outcomes. Document resident interactions and onsite programming in LEARN. Providing resources and knowledge for clients to access capital, including loans for financial goals like housing and consumer products, to build credit, reduce debt, and support wealth growth through entrepreneurship. Offering consultation services in financial management and goal-setting. Hosting in-person and virtual seminars for clients seeking financial literacy management resources and capital access. Supporting and promoting the development of the USI CDFI client base. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field. 3+ years of experience as a case manager or in direct practice with low- income households; health services experience a plus. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and an automobile for work use. Commitment to strengths-based, family-focused service planning and understanding of program philosophies. Ability to handle privileged information in a professional and confidential manner. The ability to work independently and with initiative, combined with skills for thriving in a team environment, both internally and externally, to achieve shared goals. Availability to attend evening and weekend functions as required. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Strong organizational, planning and time management skills. Must excel in a fast-paced environment in a variety of settings with culturally diverse persons and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
