Paid Internship for studentsWe are currently accepting applications for an internship at our Family Resource Center. The Family Support Worker (FSW) Intern provides information and educational resources to Family Members in addition to providing referrals to community resources.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops the FRC calendar and cohosts parent and youth support groups.
- Follow up with the Family Members or providers within two weeks of referral to ensure that the Family Members were able to access services referred by the FRC.
- Cofacilitate FRC family and youth groups.
- Request Family Members to complete a Family Satisfaction Survey, in a form and format provided or approved by EOHHS, DCF or the ASO, after participating in FRC Basic Services or accessing Network Services through referral.
- May participate on a phone call to a Network Services provider or physically accompany the Family Members to a location where the services are available offsite.
- Ability to establish working relationships with clinical, administrative, and support staff in order to develop professionalism and coordination within the team to maximize services available
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with peers, consumers, family members and the public.
- Ability to effectively interact with staff, consumers, family members, administration and the community, both in person and on the telephone.
- Maintain all ethical and legal requirements of the Agency.
- Focuses on understanding and meeting family needs.
- Maintains positive work relationships in a respectful and collaborative manner.
- Maintains good communication with others ensuring others have necessary information.
- Actively works toward organizational improvement and professional growth.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends to meet the needs of the program.
Education and Experience:Minimum staff qualifications for a Family Support Worker include:
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of experience working with children and families.
- Must possess excellent communication skills (oral and written) as well as strong organizational skills; computer literacy required. Ability to work well under pressure and as a member of a professional team.
- Experience in navigating any of the child and family-serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems
