Job Description:
Klingberg is a private non-profit multi service agency who provides help to thousands of people across Connecticut each year. Our goal is to extend hope and healing to children and families whose lives have been traumatized by abuse and/or neglect in its various forms, sever family problems and mental health issues.We are seeking a Family Support Worker to work in our Supervised Visitation program. Our Supervised Visitation program provides opportunities for parents to have supervised family time with their children, learn and practice new parenting skills, repair family relationships, and improve the quality of the parent-child interaction. Typical Duties:
  • Participate in initial and ongoing training.
  • Complete intakes.
  • Schedule visits and provides supportive services to families and facilitates supervised visits between children in foster care and their biological families or children with their non-custodial parents.
  • Provide support to parents that includes establishing a trusting relationship with the assigned parents(s), visits, phone contacts and assistance in times of crisis.
  • Coordinate services and make appropriate referrals for the family.
  • Implement and provide support and educational groups for parents.
  • Develop appropriate activities to ensure that the visits are meaningful.
  • Complete assigned record-keeping tasks
Education/Experience/Other Requirements:Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Child Development or other relevant course of study. Experience working with families.Experience working with parents and children who have been separated from one or more parents due to the courts and/or Department of Children and Families (DCF) is preferred.
