Job Description:
The Bridge Family Center is looking for a full and part time Family Life Coach for it's Quality Parenting Center located in Hartford, CT. The QPC provides structured support and coaching during family visitation sessions for parents who are working on family reunification after a child has been removed from the home. The Family Life Coach is responsible for the case management and supervision of/participation in visits between families and children under DCF care, as well as all related documentation related to those visits.The Quality Parenting Center is open 7 days/week including all major holidays.The Bridge Family Center offers competitive pay and great benefits, including:Full Time - Medical/Vision, Dental, Employer paid life insurance, Flexible Spending Plans, 403(b) with match, 19 days of vacation to start (increasing annually for the first 5 years), paid sick time, personal time, and 8 paid holidays.Part Time employees may be eligible for benefits and/or prorated PTO depending on number of scheduled hours/week.Currently, the Bridge is looking for 1 full time Coach and 1 part time Coach with schedules as follows:Full time: Tuesday - Saturday (T/F/S 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM; W/Th 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM)Part time: Saturday & Sunday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PMResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:I. Behavioral Management
  • Provide supervision during the family visits, maintaining a positive environment and overall safety during the visit.
  • Report any safety concerns immediately.
  • Interact with families during the visits, providing guidance on proper engagement and communications with children dependent on development level.
  • II. Program Management
  • Upon referral to the program, schedule and facilitate an initial meeting with the biological parents, child, caregiver(s) and DCF to explain the program, share information, discuss the issues precipitating child removal, current family circumstances, the strengths and needs of the family, and develop or refine the DCF Visitation Plan.
  • Complete an assessment with each family to develop overall goals and then meet with the family to develop a visitation plan prior to each visit.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation to all involved parties within the timelines established by the program.
  • Communicate families' progress with DCF.
  • Coordinate final discharge meeting with the family and DCF.
  • Provide backup transportation services for the visit participants if needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field strongly preferred. Prior case management and/or visit coaching experience a plus. Bilingual Spanish/English speaking strongly preferred to meet the needs of the clients. Must have ability to set professional boundaries and limits as well as develop positive rapport with children and adult clients. Must be able to address and take control of difficult situations in the moment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to complete all required documentation in a clear, concise manner consistent with the Visit Coaching model. Must also have a valid Connecticut driver's license, and possess the following certifications, or be eligible to obtain these after hire: Adult/Child CPR & First Aid, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Visit Coaching Model Training, and additional DCF trainings as determined by the program.Full time: Tuesday - Saturday (T/F/S 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM; W/Th 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM)Part time: Saturday & Sunday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
