Job Description:

Exciting job opportunity for those with a passion for agriculture, product safety and dairy farming! A brand new position is opening up with Cayuga Marketing, LLC. the raw milk division and counterpart to Cayuga Milk Ingredients. The farm inspector will be responsible for the oversite and administration of the NYS Milk Inspector duties for Cayuga Marketing member producers. The Inspector will perform all associated duties to ensure all member farms are following Ag & Markets regulations and prepare Cayuga Marketing LLC to pass any state or federal rating inspections. As a 24/7/365 operation, due to raw milk supply, the Inspector must be able to occasionally work on off shifts to support the needs of this division.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtain NYS Certification to perform Ag & Markets farm inspections/evaluations on 32 member farms.
  • Travel to member farms routinely as required by regulations to perform onsite site inspections/evaluations.
  • This position can be based out of your home with required travel within the Finger Lakes Region to member farms.
  • Adhere to and enforce Cayuga Marketing, New York State Ag & Markets, and FDA policies.
  • Upon farm inspection completion, actively follow up with all farm deficiencies for continuous improvement.
  • Actively manage farm data to ensure superior performance in milk quality; butterfat, somatic cell, PI and bacteria counts.
  • Provide effective on-farm consultation and troubleshooting of milk quality issues
  • Effectively manage and maintain state mandated records.
  • Collect farm milk, water, and glycol samples as required/needed and transport to regulatory lab for testing. Maintain records of sample results.
  • Ensure farms are inspection ready to pass any state and federal rating inspections.
  • Work with state inspector periodically as required by regulations for scoring and record keeping checks.
  • Participate and represent Cayuga Marketing in any regulatory rating inspection.
  • Work with farm equipment installers and technicians to troubleshoot quality issues.
  • Review with farm equipment installers the design and installation plans to ensure project approval from New York State.
  • Examine producer use cases to determine future equipment needs
  • Support Projects Manager, VP Milk Division, and Sustainability Manager with company member services.
  • Any other duties as determined by the VP Milk Division.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of an Associate s Degree in an applicable field. Bachelor s degree or equivalent in Food Technology or Dairy Science is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in dairy products inspection, milk or food plant production, or conducting health inspections for food safety purposes (including preparatory/mock state & federal inspections)
  • Certified to perform NYS AG & Markets Farm inspections. If not currently certified, Cayuga Marketing will assist and pay for certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Compensation:

At Cayuga Milk Ingredients, we value a fair and comprehensive approach to compensation. Our wage range for this role is determined by various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. It is not typical for an employee to start at or near the top of the range for the position. Compensation decisions are made based on individual job circumstances considering skill level, previous experience, and education requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is$ 28.00- $42.00 per hour ($58,240- $87,360 annual). We offer full benefits including medical/dental/vision, HSA contribution, PTO, paid holidays, and 401k.
