Location: Eagle Grove Farm, Hartwell, GA Schedule: Two nights on/ two nights off; Three nights on/ two nights off; Two nights off/two nights on; Three nights off; including holidays
Hours: 7:30 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Typically these positions generally average 40 hours a week.Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Position Summary:This position patrols and guards the farm complex against fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry. Performs other duties such as garbage disposal; wash bay cleaning; boot room and smoking area wash down and disinfection; pick up and incineration of dead birds; laundering towels and uniforms on the weekends and weekdays when needed; and monitors spent hen sales.
Minimum Requirements: - Must have valid driver's license.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure (10%)
- Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons (10%)
- Reports power failures, storm damage and property damage, malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, and other unusual occurrences immediately to management personnel (10%)
- Monitors operation of generators during power failures and refuels as necessary (10%)
- Monitors all houses for proper ventilation, curtain position, and temperature control; watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked (20%)
- Communicates issues in a timely manner to management; communicates all alarms to management (10%)
- Monitors and operates farm incinerators to insure disposed of birds are burned properly each day; cleans incinerators daily; collects trash from the poultry houses, Employee Center, and wash bay for disposal to the dumpster daily (20%)
- Maintain foot baths, restrict outside traffic (5%)
- Occasional laundry during the week and on most weekends. (5%)
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare:- The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move, up to 50 pounds to move items such as rugs, bags of trash, bags of dead birds, tools, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift on multiple surfaces; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; stoop/bend up to 300 times per day; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
- Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, dark, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.
- Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof aprons, and rubber boots are required. Ear plugs will be used as required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.
- Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Lysol, bleach, insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides, etc.
- Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment. Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
