Location: Charleston,MO, USA
Purpose:
The position's purpose is to deliver research-based educational information and assistance to approximately 35-40 small-scale, minority, and socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. These collaborating farmers and ranchers are expected to improve their living conditions through improved profitability and sustainability of their operations.
Essential Job Functions:
* Conduct farm visits and provide research-based education information and training.
* Assist in organizing/conducting workshops with LUCE State Specialists to deliver programs.
* Encourage and assist area farmers to promote LUCE and its programs.
* Develop collegial relationships with other service providers in their work area.
* Submit all required reports in a timely manner.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
* Attend in-service education, training, and conferences.
* Keep farmers informed of the latest innovations in Agriculture and grant opportunities.
* Update client's information after every farm visits.
* The ISFOP Director may assign additional responsibilities from time to time.
* Respond to the ISFOP Director's request ASAP.
Qualifications:
* High school certificate or its equivalent
* Two years of farming experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:
* Attend in-service education, training, and conferences.
* Experience working with diverse audiences.
* Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
* Ability to work in teams.
* Keep farmers informed of the latest innovations in agriculture and grant opportunities.
Physical Demands:
* Light sedentary office work.
* Prolonged periods of standing or working in adverse weather conditions.
* Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
