We invite you to join the high-energy team at Chatham Bars Inn Farm, an 8-acre working farm in Brewster, MA which produces well over 100,000 pounds and 125 varieties of vegetables each year, most of which is used by the culinary team at Chatham Bars Inn. The Farm features innovative farming techniques such as hydroponics and Slovenian beekeeping and also offers a seasonal Farm Stand open to the public and weekly farm-to-table outdoor dinners. The farm is a part of Chatham Bars Inn, a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Hotel on Cape Cod, Massachusetts with 25 oceanfront acres, 217 rooms and suites, five restaurants, boating, a private beach, full-service spa and endless recreation activities.
The Farm Stand Manager position is available from March 15, 2025 - December 1, 2025. This is a full time extended seasonal position.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing farm stand staff members, to include hiring, training, coaching, disciplinary actions, terminations, scheduling, payroll, and all other management functions.
- Responsible for filing permits for farm dinners and all farm events with the relevant authorities (town, state of MA) in a timely manner
- Responsible for planning and executing our signature public events, Tomato Fest & Fall Frolic in coordination with the marketing & food and beverage department
- Managing day-to-day display & retail operations for a small high-volume farm stand
- Collaborating with the harvest coordinator and farm manager to ensure a constant supply of fresh vegetables to the farm stand.
- Participate in pro-active planning to determine most popular vegetable selections and display methods.
- Maintaining the health of nursery stock and plants for sale
- Positively engaging with our loyal customer base
- Assist with promoting and marketing the farm-stand
- Neatly packing, labeling, packaging all vegetables to the exacting standards of the Chatham Bars Inn
- Maintaining a clean, neat, and well-organized retail display area
- Maintaining accurate sales records and bookkeeping practices
- Manage a diverse crew to ensure speed, efficiency and quality standards are upheld
- Maintaining quality standards and ensuring that all products leaving the farm meet the impeccable standards of the Chatham Bars Inn Farm
- Transport and delivery of farm products will also be required
- Participate in general farm-hand duties as necessary
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous retail management experience is preferred
- Basic math and bookkeeping skills required
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to manage a diverse crew of farm stand workers
- Calm and positive attitude, even when working under stressful conditions
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude and neat appearance
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work under challenging ergonomic conditions, including work that requires frequent crouching, bending and kneeling.
- Ability to regularly lift loads of 50 pounds
- Must be able to work outside in all climates
- Must be flexible with the schedule and work weekends and holidays
- Valid Driver's License is required
