JOB DESCRIPTION
The Farm Support Supervisor's responsibilities include coordinating with individuals we serve and staff, crops, and livestock, purchasing supplies, preparing budgets and reports, and ensuring maximum profit. The Farm Support Supervisor will report to the Program Administrator within the Vocational Department. To be a successful Farm Support Supervisor, you must be detail-oriented but also keep the bigger picture in mind.
FARM SUPPORT SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Analyzing existing operations, crops, livestock, etc. and introduce documentation and record-keeping while recommending improvements.
* Problem solving focusing on efficiency and take a hands-on approach to management.
* Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring individuals and staff understand expectations.
* Promote and enhance additional interests for expansion and growth of the business.
* Ensuring seeds, (fertilizers, pesticides, etc. if introduced), and other supplies are regularly restocked.
* Conduct regular inspections of crops, livestock, soil, and water quality to maintain the highest standards of production.
* Support the marketing and sale of products produced on the farm including but not limited to, fruit, vegetables, and grains.
* Ensuring all individuals and staff adheres to OSHA regulations.
* Collaborating with the Finance Department if help is needed with preparing budgets and financial reports.
* Building professional networks and keeping abreast of developments in agricultural science.
* Overseeing the functionality of farming equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
* A minimum of an Associate Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or equivalent.
* Additional courses in Business Management or Administration are not required, but preferred.
* Extensive experience in a farming-related field.
* Equipment Maintenance: MSS Equipment and Infrastructure.
* Management experience a plus.
* A passion for agriculture.
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* Willingness to work overtime as required.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
* Applicant must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (adhering to under one moving violation and or under 3 points in the last five years).
* Computer literacy with a basic competency in Microsoft Office and the willingness to learn new software packages if necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
Employee must be able to complete training and effectively perform non-adverse physical interventions with autistic individuals of varying heights, weights, and levels of physical strength according to the guidelines presented in Behavioral Principles and Strategies training.
