SPECIFIC DUTIES:This working position is responsible for the installation and repair of plumbing and associated systems, LP Gas supply, Waste Collection and Potable Water necessary to operate a major institution. This position will also provide on the job training to those inmates he/she supervises in plumbing and associated systems. The incumbent in this position is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Following approved methods and procedures, provisions of all required local, state or federal codes, tool, safety and established security procedures.
- Reading Blueprints, Performing repairs and preventive maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Preparing reports of progress and performance for assigned inmates for the use by the inmate's classifications team in measuring and determining the rehabilitative progress of the assigned inmate and provides personal counseling when necessary for inmates consistent with motivational needs and the development of a positive approach to rehabilitation efforts.
- Maintaining custody and control of inmates assigned under the supervision of the position in accordance with accountability requirements for inmates outlined in the operational procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma or its equivalent and at least one (1) year of experience in the plumbing trade OR four or more years of experience in the plumbing trade (College or vocational/technical training in the above listed trade can substitute for the required experience).
- A valid Driver's license.
