Federal Government Affairs Manager

* We are looking to hire someone to work in our Washington DC office with a hybrid schedule (2+ days/week in office)

Job Summary

The Federal Government Affairs Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and the execution of strategies to influence federal government policies and regulations by building and maintaining relationships with Members of Congress and their staffs. In addition, this position will be an integral leader in in developing and driving NiSource-wide policy priorities. Finally, the position will manage NiSource's PAC, NiPAC, to include solicitation of eligible employees, oversee the compliance with state and federal regulations, and other PAC administrative duties as required.

Essential Functions

* Collaborates with the Director of Federal Government Affairs to drive the development and execution of government affairs strategies designed to meet the organization's strategic goals and objectives.

* Builds and maintains relationships with government officials, policymakers, and trade associations to advocate for our organization's priorities.

* Collaborates with internal teams to educate and analyze the impact of proposed regulations and legislation on our organization and develops appropriate responses and action plans.

* Develops and executes the organization's strategic public policy priorities and advocacy plans that will be integral in the long-term success of the company.

* Manages NiPAC to support state and federal governmental affairs activities.

* Develops solicitation strategies, implements plans, and leads solicitation campaigns that enlist executive management support to ensure funding is available to meet corporation business objectives.

* Manages and oversees the filing of NiPAC reports and filings to ensure compliance with all state and Federal Election Commission regulations.

* Files all required reports related to federal lobbying and gift disclosure. Establishes and maintains records necessary to support such reports.

* Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications For Position

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

* 4-6 years of experience working on energy & environmental policy with a Capitol Hill office, federal agency, corporation, or trade association.

* Experience in developing and implementing successful government affairs strategies.

* Strong analytical and research skills to assess the impact of proposed regulations and legislation.

* Understanding of political action committees and the rules/regulations surrounding a PAC.

* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively lead cross-functional teams.

* Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.

* Ability to travel as needed for meetings, conferences, and other relevant events.

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

* In-depth knowledge of the current and emerging issues facing the utility industry and/or prior experience working within the utility industry.

* Strong existing network and relationships with key stakeholders in the government and advocacy community.

Work Authorization

Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Salary Range:

$125,800.00 - $188,600.00
