The Feedway Operator is responsible for managing the flow of product in the Fastback, preventing cross-contamination of product, ensuring quality product is delivered to the scales, and ensuring all scales and Buckets are fully functioning. The coordinator may also contribute in production, training or other activities as a support function to other areas of the business and to meet the Strategic Business Plan objectives.
ESSENIAL JOB DUTIES
Manages the flow of product in the Fastback.
Communicates with Processing & Packaging team members:
Instances when Fastbacks are filling up or when there are opportunities to speed up lines.
Timing of gaps or head reduction.
Notification of bad product.
Prevent cross-contamination of product.
Ensure all covers, stops, plastic wrap and other physical measures are in place and properly secured to ensure no cross-contamination issues occur.
Prevent any backup in the Fastback.
Ensures quality product is delivered to the scales. Performs moisture testing.
Ensures scales function properly and troubleshoot as needed. Report mechanical/electrical issues to Lead, Supervisor, or Maintenance.
Completes documentation as needed: Seasoning Checks, Feedway and Weigher Startup Checklist, and other documentation as needed.
Ensures all photo eyes are functioning properly and are adjusted to that proper feed levels are maintained. Report issues to Lead, Supervisor or Maintenance.
Keeps work area clean. Lead the disassembly, cleanup, and reassembly of scales, Fastbacks, belts, covers, stops and plastic wrap (when applicable) during product changes.
Ensures that tubs and platforms are clean and free of debris at shift changes.
Provide back-up for other positions such as Packaging Machine Operator or Packer as needed.
May assist the Lead in accounting for, and when requested, coordinating the activities of temporary employees and their compliance with all policies on their line; and may help with non-line specific employed temps.
Recommends improvements to appropriate departmental management to maintain a continuous improvement culture.
Protects team members and company safety and security through reporting and stopping occurrences such as damage to product and/or property, theft, product tampering and questionable behavior.
Maintains a positive working relationship with internal and external customers, and co-workers.
Arrive punctually on scheduled workdays and be at the designated work area by start of shift to assure continuous workflow.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and/or 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
