**Field Adjuster**
Location Department Position Reports To Location: Hickory, NC Department: Claims Position Reports To: Regional Claims Manager & District Claims Manager ** General Definition**
Investigates, evaluates, and negotiates settlements of multi-line insurance claims.
** Special Training, Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required**
A bachelors degree and or comparable work experience is preferred. Good oral and written communication skills are also required. Must be able to conduct business in a professional manner in person and by telephone or written communication, and must be able to deal effectively with the public in stressful situations. Dependable, responsible, organized, and detailed person must be able to work independently and as a team member. Maintain CE in compliance with N.C. Department of Insurance and N.C. Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company requirements.
Familiarity with medical and legal concepts is desired. Must have mechanical and construction aptitude or ability. Must be able to extend and climb a ladder, and maneuver within a crawl space. Ability to lift 35lbs. on a regular basis.
** Major Duties of Position**
* Verify coverage on loss assignments.
* Promptly contact, and maintain contact, with insureds and claimants.
* Establish reserves and update as needed.
* Comply with regulatory guidelines.
* Appraise and determine covered damages using provided resources.
* Investigate losses and apply policy coverage.
* Determine legal liability for losses and damages.
* Effect payment or denial of claims.
* Maintain current, detailed notes and report on details of claims in various stages of development.
* Manage/control expenses and company equipment.
* Attend various meetings/classes on behalf of the company.
* Additional duties deemed necessary by management.
** Qualifications for Senior Field Adjuster**
* Recommendation from the District Claim Manager and Regional Claim Manager.
* Five years of service as a Field Adjuster or equivalent adjusting position with N.C. Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, Inc.
* Satisfactory completion of all required industry coursework.
* Successfully pass tests on contracts written by the company.
* Successfully pass tests on general claims knowledge, company background and organization information.
