Job DetailsJob LocationConcrete Safety Systems - Midland, VADescriptionThe Highway Barrier Laborer reports to the Concrete Safety Systems (CSS) Manager and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and removal of highway barriers during day and night-time operations. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, night-time environment.Responsibilities
- Install, reposition, and remove concrete barriers on highways and construction sites during night shifts
- Conduct pressure washing, repairs, and staining of concrete barriers as needed
- Ensure proper safety protocols are followed at all times, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet daily project goals and deadlines
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Assist in loading and unloading of concrete barrier
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor work on active highways and construction sites
- Night-time work schedule with potential for overtime
- Exposure to noise, dust, and variable weather conditions
- Travel required to various job sites, including potential out-of-town assignments
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to work night shifts
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 60 pounds) and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions
- Basic understanding of traffic control and work zone safety
- Willingness to travel to different job sites and stay out of town for short periods as required
- Previous experience in construction, road work, or related fields
- Familiarity with concrete barrier systems and installation techniques
