Job Description:

Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. (ECT) is looking for a Field Ecologist / Biologist to help expand our Natural Resources service line. Successful candidates will be able to lead and organize field projects, mentor team members, and provide technical oversight. By leveraging existing relationships and creating new business development opportunities, career growth opportunities are available for the ideal candidate to assist with growing ECT's presence in the southwestern United States.

This position will report to the Colorado/Texas Region. The candidate can be located within New Mexico or western Texas.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Complete field work for environmental studies (e.g., wetland delineations, vegetation mapping, wildlife surveys, threatened and endangered species habitat assessments, and ecological surveys and monitoring) for variety of clients
  • Perform office-based environmental studies, prepare reports, and conduct QA/QC of field data

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate/graduate degree in natural resources, ecology, botany, or related environmental field
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience related to wetland delineations, wildlife surveys (including avian species), threatened and endangered species habitat assessments, and vegetation community identification
  • Familiarity with wetland delineation processes in multiple regions across the United States, especially Arid West and Great Plains
  • Knowledge with Streamflow Duration Assessment Method, Bureau of Land Management special-status species surveys
  • Experience coordinating with agencies, such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Albuquerque District and with understanding waters of the U.S.
  • Previous experience in the consulting industry is preferred

  • Self-motivated individual with sound professional judgement that can work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and evolving priorities without missing deadlines or losing sight of overall project goals
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing circumstances, and follow field processes/protocols
  • Excellent attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, technical writing skills, and GPS understanding required
  • Travel will be dependent on project demands, with likely travel outside of New Mexico
  • Ability to lift objects, potentially work long days, and work in various environmental conditions, such as areas in and around water, areas with rough terrain, and during varying weather conditions
  • Valid Driver's license with clean driving record required
