Job Description:

Inight Global is seeking a Structural Field Engineer to work onsite in Austin, TX for a automotive and clean energy client of ours. You would support our Factory Engineering Team with construction support. This primarily includes daily site walks, reporting on progress, data collection, following up on issues/fixes. This role works directly with the design team and contractors/field staff.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate with field activities and ensure alignment with drawings, specifications, and construction quality; including collecting field measurements, writing requests for information (RFIs), and providing as-built redlines or other documentation or construction administration activities.
  • Coordinate structural design on multidiscipline project teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Piping/Plumbing (MEP) professionals.
  • Make technical assumptions, think independently to complete assigned work, and draw conclusions based on engineering judgement.
  • Communicate key activities, critical submittals to stakeholders, engineering, vendors
  • Support construction with change management, takeoffs, and progress reporting
  • Providing construction with engineering/architectural design input/interpretation
  • Identify opportunities for detail/design/constructability improvements and report back to the engineering teams
  • Make daily site walks to check progress of the construction projects containing structural scope, identify deficiencies or non-compliance with the construction documents, and communicate these issues to the design engineer and the construction manager responsible for the project.
  • Speak directly with the construction superintendent & foremen

Minimum Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in the construction industry focused on structural systems
  • Experience in structural design of buildings for commercial, industrial, oil and gas, high tech industries
  • Hospitals, multifamily, office buildings, etc.
  • Familiarity with US building codes and structural design standards.
  • 100% out in the field – field observations, checking in on construction progress
  • Progress reporting to engineers, designers
  • Working heavily with contractors
  • Navigating drawings and construction safety
  • Project focused on Steel construction – concrete and steel
  • Reinforced concrete and structural steel
  • Familiarity and experience with Navisworks, Bluebeam, Revit and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Come from a structural engineering background
  • Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture
  • Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and timelines
  • Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Self-directed, highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Must be onsite full-time in Austin, TX

Plusses

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Familiarity with Revit Structural
  • Registered and in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Working proficiency in Spanish Language

Pay Rate: $65-$75/hr
