Job Description:
Due to rapid growth and continued operational success, Wilson Excavating is seeking a Field Engineer to join its Operations team.

What the Role Involves:

  • Assist company project management, supervisors, and crafts to ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, customer specifications and design within a set cost budget.
  • Interpret design/drawings for installing material.
  • Cost code daily foreman time sheets, purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, costs, quantities, actual expenditures, etc. for input into cost control system.
  • Calculate material/work quantity requirements (takeoffs); monitor progress and percentage complete per work item.
  • Prepare and submit required project documents including new contracts with subcontractors, project schedules, submittals, material requirements, daily reports, etc.
  • Prepare drawings and sketches to support phasing and scheduling of construction work.
  • Prepare various charts, tables and reports for project analysis.
  • Prepare field design change requisitions and as built drawings, as required.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc. to supervisor.
  • Verify all completed work complies with contract specifications and documents.
  • Attend meetings with other contractors, client, or owner's representatives to coordinate discipline's design and construction effort.
  • Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

Educational requirements include four (4) year degree in Engineering, or related degree with experience specific to the position. Two (2) years job costing experience preferred, but not required. Above average computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel. Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline. Ability to assume responsibility, interface, problem solve and communicate with others is essential.
