Job Description:

Primary purpose:

To provide technical support in all areas of pipeline systems and to be a technical resource to the company in support of projects.

This job may be filled as an Engineer-Field, Engineer-Field II, Engineer-Field III or Engineer- Field, Sr., at Management's discretion (based on experience noted in the Education requirements).

Essential duties and responsibilities:

* Effectively plan, schedule, manage and report on multiple capital and maintenance projects with various deadlines and responsibility levels. Such projects include new pipeline construction, pipeline replacement, inline inspection, pipeline integrity remediation, pressure testing, compression, automation and controls, measurement, corrosion, gas processing, pipeline interconnects, encroachments etc.

* Develop project scope documents and manage increases and decreases in project scope.

* Develop and manage project schedules, cost estimates and budget forecasts as required with minimal direction from supervisor.

* Develop Request for Proposal (RFP) bid documents for construction projects services and materials, conduct bid process, prepare detailed bid analysis, and select successful contractor/vendor.

* Provide technical expertise to various internal and external customers.

* Develop and/or update Company engineering, material and equipment specifications and standards.

* Manage projects per Company and OSHA safety standardsCompany engineering, construction and operating/maintenance standards and procedures.

* Provide engineering and project management support to field operations, as necessary.

* Effectively prioritize workload between several projects.

* Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.

* Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.

* Regular, dependable work attendance and a fully competent level of performance is expected.

* Will work non-traditional hours as needed.

* Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.

* Other daily, weekly, monthly, or special project duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

Education:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in engineering or a related discipline.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

* Manager's discretion will determine the starting engineering level (I, II, III, or Sr) based on direct work experience. Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate.

* Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

* Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

* Knowledge of the natural gas and oil transmission industry, pipeline/facilities design, construction, and pressure testing.

* Proficiency in basic engineering skills.

* Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs).

* Familiarity and ability to read and interpret basic GIS information and maps.

* Knowledge of ROW, EHS and regulatory clearances for pipeline projects.

* Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

* Ability to organize and prioritize work to successfully perform work on simultaneous projects and tasks to meet deadlines.

* Field activities may include walking to and amidst work and/or construction sites, climbing in and out of trenches, working around heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.

Working Conditions:

* Frequent overnight travel may be required.

* Overtime and/or extended work hours may be required depending on the project.

* Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.

* The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Supervisory Responsibility:

* None

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Over and above the minimum requirements; these are not required but advantageous for this position.

* Specific experience in project management, engineering, design and construction of pipeline, compressor, pump, and meter station facilities.

* Knowledge of pipeline operation.

* Experience and knowledge of pipeline integrity, ILI tool runs and anomaly remediation.

* Experience in investigation and root-cause determination of pipeline and equipment failures.

* Advanced proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

* Knowledge and/or application experience with industry standards (DOT 49CFR192 and 195 API, ASME, ANSI, NACE, NEC, etc.).

* Registered engineering intern (EI)

* Registered professional engineer (PE)

The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

* Salary range for this position will be $90,000-$148,000/yr.
