Description: Summary The role of a Field Engineer (FE) in our industrial solutions company is to provide field support for the Project Manager (PM) and the Project Engineer (PE), and the primary onsite representative for RDC. You will be responsible for the oversight of many aspects of construction management, such as a moderate usage of ServiceMax, complete field conditions surveys field verification, understanding of the contract / PO and RDC's scope of work (SOW), change order assistance, time & material (T&M) management, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards, monitoring safety & regulatory requirements, equipment delivery tracking, understanding of submittals, processing of field initiated RFI's, reviewing schedule of values for invoicing / payment applications for accuracy, punch list creation & management, as-builts & assistance with closeout paperwork. This role is a peer (teammate) with the Project Engineer, each reporting primarily to the Project Manager and secondarily to the Director of Construction (DoC). The Field Engineer is the secondary contact with the key stakeholders and the primary contact for the site management team (GC/CM/etc. project managers & superintendents). You will serve as the PM's left-hand person, handling various onsite issues. This position requires frequent travel between project sites and close collaboration with the GC/CM's onsite superintendent, and occasionally with the GC/CM's PM or PE. Duties/Responsibilities Assist in processing of Requests for Information (RFIs). Assist in submittal processing and validate that submittals & field conditions or drawings will support it. Inspect work in the field to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes. Understand the project budget and assist with controlling costs & change orders. Monitor and track project quality control metrics, providing timely and accurate quality reporting to the Project Manager (PM) when necessary. Generate project punch lists and assist with closeout documentation. Capture and document progress through meticulous photo documentation for RFIs and project records. Attend subcontractor coordination meetings on jobsites. Coordinate logistics effectively, including the delivery and staging of materials and equipment onsite. Serve as the primary assistant to the PM, representing the PM in the field. Continually update work orders with meeting minutes, changes, and scheduling notes. Attend in Progress (WIP) meetings involving the Director of Construction (DoC), Project Manager (PM) and the Project Engineer (PE). Attend and actively participate in job site meetings, providing valuable insights and updates to the project management team Supervise and support RDC Sub-Contractors, ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards and contractual obligations. Direct and oversee onsite personnel, including technicians and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Assist in AIA payment application processing to validate quantities & percentages. Diagnose and resolve construction or machinery issues promptly and efficiently. Assist in updating work orders in the system. Experience using SaleForce and/or ServiceMax a plus. Practice Punch as You Go and NOT wait till the end of the project. Serve as the primary liaison with General Contractors (GC), Construction Managers (CM), and onsite Superintendents, fostering collaborative relationships to facilitate project success. Conduct regular and systematic site visits throughout the project lifecycle, commencing from one month prior to project initiation through to final completion.Manage punchout and warranty processes meticulously, holding accountable all involved technicians and subcontractors to uphold project integrity and client satisfaction. Requirements: Required Skills/Abilities: Understand construction safety guidelines & can identify & resolve issues. Good verbal and written communication skills for interaction with onsite & offsite GC's, CM's, Developers, Design Builders & subcontractors. Well-versed in technical aspects of construction, particularly with RDC's equipment Experienced using Microsoft Office software (MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) Knowledge of construction contracts, plans, specifications, shop drawings and regulatory requirements. Effective multitasking skills while analyzing and resolving problems. Knowledge of engineering, architectural, and other construction-related drawings & specifications (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, etc.). Construction scheduling & sequencing skills. Ability to read & understand construction schedules created by others. Experience using SaleForce and ServiceMax a plus. Education and Experience: Previous experience as construction field engineer, trades person, foreman, superintendent, or similar role An associate's degree or certification from an accredited college, university or trade school in construction management, construction science, engineering, architecture or related field is preferred. In lieu of this requirement a minimum of three (3) years of construction management experience preferred. The position requires a minimum two (2) years of construction field management experience or five (5) years progressively responsible construction field management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Experience leading and managing multiple projects (not necessarily construction) simultaneously is desirable. OSHA 10-Hour Certification or willingness to pursue soon. Physical Requirements: Ability to drive for extended periods of time. Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working on a computer. Will require frequent & extensive travel for jobsite visits & meetings at RDC office locations. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time. Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of construction jobsites; this may include walking, climbing ladders & scaffolding, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching. Exposure to typical & customary construction site dangers.
