PlanIT Group is hiring a Field Infrastructure/Cable Technician Syracuse metro area. You will perform skilled infrastructure/structured cabling work in the installation, service and maintenance, repair and alteration of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling and other various low voltage cabling systems. Complete physical installations and removal of structured cabling components, cabinets, pathway systems (cable tray), move equipment, racks, and related communications infrastructure materials. You are paid for drive time, mileage, and have a phone allowance. The pay is $27/hour. Would you be a good fit? Thank you for your time and consideration.Position Details:
- Basic tools (i.e. Punch tool; Toner & Probe; & Snips).
Requirements and preferences:
- Minimum 2 yrs. experience (preferably in a field service role):
- Required:
- Structured cabling copper install, test, troubleshoot.
- MAC/break fix infrastructure tickets
- Experience in using Cable testers
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Email
- Knowledge of hyper-terminal and putty for accessing network devices from a laptop
- Small Scale user relocations
- Must be responsible, reliable, dedicated with great communication skills
- Must be able to communicate clearly with customers, General Contractors and other employees
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of switches and routers, Router/Switch upgrades, Rack/stack, and VOIP upgrades
- Standard work hours: Mon-Sat: Hours Varies (must be comfortable working dispatch days/evenings/weekends & occasional Sundays)
- Location: Mobile worker - Syracuse NY area
- Requires a valid driver's license and dependable personal vehicle that can support up to a 6 foot ladder
Primary Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform installation and service of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling, communication equipment and other various low voltage related systems such as Category 3, Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6 and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems.
- Evaluate, diagnose, troubleshoot cabling infrastructure systems and perform repairs as necessary.
