Position Overview We are seeking dedicated and experienced
Field Inspectors across all disciplines to support the
C35327 MTACD Rockaway Project. This project requires around-the-clock coverage for a 17-week General Order (GO) from January 18, 2025, to May 19, 2025. Work will be conducted in two daily shifts, and inspectors will play a key role in ensuring compliance, quality, and safety throughout the duration of the project. Inspectors will be responsible for monitoring and documenting construction activities, verifying adherence to contract specifications and standards, and collaborating with project teams to address any issues that arise in the field.
Key Responsibilities - Perform daily inspections of construction work to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Document construction activities through detailed reports, including narratives, photos, and technical data.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure quality, timeliness, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Verify the installation of materials and systems aligns with project requirements.
- Identify, document, and report discrepancies or non-conformities, and collaborate with the project team to resolve issues promptly.
- Assist in reviewing and approving contractor submittals, including schedules, change orders, and payment requests.
- Provide updates to the Resident Engineer and project team regarding field conditions and potential challenges.
- Enforce safety standards and protocols, ensuring a secure work environment for all personnel.
- Attend progress meetings to discuss ongoing work, address concerns, and align on project milestones.
Shift Schedule - Shift 1: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday through Sunday)
- Shift 2: 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM (Monday through Sunday)
Inspectors must commit to working either Shift 1 or Shift 2 for the entire duration of the project.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of field inspection experience in transportation or infrastructure projects.
- Industry Rail and Transit experience with the MTA a plus.
- Familiarity with construction codes, standards, and best practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with contractors, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to generate detailed inspection reports.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Flexibility to work night or weekend shifts as needed.
Location Field office located in Rockaway Park, NY. Inspectors will be required to report to the designated field office and construction sites during their assigned shifts.
Hourly Rate $40/hr to $70/hr,
