As a Field Machinist you will be responsible for the following duties:
* Machinists are required to repair, maintain, install, and make improvements to chemical processing equipment and machinery (including pumps, agitators, fans, centrifuges, etc.).
* Ability to fabricate to exact tolerances using lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other shop equipment.
* Execute preventive maintenance program.
* Calibrate, align, and adjust production equipment.
* Work hours are Mon. - Fri., 8-hour days (40 hours/week) with occasional overtime.
* Longer term could be 24/7 coverage (Fireman's rotation - two 12-hour days, two 12-hour nights, 4 days rest)
* Available for call in on off hours as needed to make equipment repairs.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance software tools.
Qualifications include:
* HS diploma
* Field machinist or millwright training and demonstrated experience.
* Mechanical equipment repair training and/or demonstrated experience: pumps, mechanical seals, agitators, gear boxes, fans (bearings, sheaves), alignment.
* Able to work in confined spaces.
* Able to work from heights from a ladder or man lift.
* Demonstrate effective analytical troubleshooting skills.
* Able to read and interpret mechanical/machine drawings.
* Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
* Excellent safety record - places safety and environment as top priority in all work
* Knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out
* Effective communication skills - daily communications with maintenance planner, technical staff and operations as needed.
* Good collaborator - willing to be flexible, work in other areas and with other trades as needed.
Minimum Education Level and experience:
2-year schooling and/or 5 plus years of demonstrated experience.
