The Field Machinist/Welder position is responsible for welding and machining parts on frames, work tools, attachments, bores, undercarriage, engines, hydraulic systems, related power train systems, structural repairs and custom fabrication on customer job sites/locations, or in the shop. Seeking candidates with a m inimum one year field machining experience on heavy equipment and components with portable machines. Experience in salvage related field machining/welding, and experience operating manual and portable machines, a plus. High school diploma or GED required. MSHA certification for mining sites. Machining and welding certifications preferred. Certificate of technical training and/or knowledge in machining and welding a plus.Requirements for the Field Machinist/Welder position include:
- Must be familiar with standard machining and welding concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Must have tools related to machining and welding trade.
- Must be able to read micrometers, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate machining and/or welding process.
- Strong mechanical and design abilities; must be able to apply knowledge of parts, components and equipment.
- Must be familiar with standard machining and welding concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Must have tools related to machining and welding trade.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision and provide guidance to entry level machinists.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Must be able to operate, drive and maneuver construction equipment to perform needed repairs.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to operate a forklift.
- Proficient computer skills for ordering parts and referencing orders.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Valid CDL and clean driving record required.

Physical requirements must be met for the Field Machinist/Welder job, including the ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 70 pounds, including bulky objects. This position requires repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing beside, onto and under a variety of heavy equipment. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dampness and humidity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
