Overview
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Field Quality Engineer to join our Quality Department, focusing on our distribution transformer product line. This pivotal role involves direct engagement with customers to address and resolve quality-related complaints, conducting on-site quality assessments, and implementing corrective actions in the field. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between our manufacturing processes and our customers, ensuring that all our products meet the highest quality standards and customer expectations. Ideally this role would travel up to 25-50% yearly to customer sites.
Responsibilities
* Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
* Conduct on-site quality audits and inspections at customer sites to assess product performance and compliance with industry standards.
* Collaborate with the engineering and manufacturing teams to provide feedback from the field and drive continuous product and process improvements.
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of customer complaints, resolutions, and feedback for trend analysis and quality improvement initiatives.
* Lead cross-functional teams in the analysis of failure modes, effects, and criticality to improve product reliability and performance.
* Facilitate the communication between customers and internal teams, ensuring clear understanding of technical issues and solutions.
* Prepare and present detailed reports on field quality issues, corrective actions, and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders.
* Train and support customers and service teams on proper installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
* Participate in the development and revision of quality standards, procedures, and documentation to enhance overall product quality.
* Stay abreast of industry trends, standards, and regulations related to distribution transformer quality and performance.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field.
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in quality engineering, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in the distribution transformer industry or related electrical equipment manufacturing.
* Proven track record in handling customer complaints, conducting field quality assessments, and implementing corrective actions.
* Experience working directly with customers and cross-functional teams in a technical and quality capacity.
* Strong technical aptitude with a deep understanding of distribution transformers and electrical systems.
* Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and provide effective solutions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
* Proficiency in data analysis and quality management software tools.
* Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.
* Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
