Job Description:

We are looking for a Construction Health and Safety professional dedicated to our Building Safely-Building Better! philosophy. This teammate would partner with the safety promoter to evaluate, develop, support, educate, and coach our teammates and vendor partners on our safety policies and programs. This role will require travel to job sites to perform safety audits to identify any compliance issues, recognize areas of opportunity for education/coaching, provide training, and improve our overall safety performance in alignment with the Herds core values.

The right candidate must live in the Louisville, KY area or be willing to relocate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Safety Promoter to evaluate, develop and execute company safety policies, programs, and training.
  • Partner with project teams to educate and coach safety best practices to promote a positive safety culture and aid in proactively preventing incidents from happening.
  • Perform job site safety audits - Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices; implement corrective action and procedures as the situation requires; document and maintain analytical reports in a database.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to field teams on their safety performance.
  • When needed, demonstrate correct usage of PPE and safety equipment.
  • Provide required teammate safety training to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with project teams to investigate incidents and accidents to identify what caused them and how they might be prevented.

Required Education, Qualifications & Experience:

  • An associate's or bachelors degree in occupational health and safety or construction sciences with a certificate from an accredited safety professionals organization such as a CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, etc. are accepted.
  • 3+ years of experience in a construction or industrial safety role preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to address groups of people and effectively convey safety information and ideas.
  • Strong overall knowledge of safety regulations in construction.
  • Ability to think creatively in providing effective solutions to complex problems.
  • Familiar with various safety software used to perform field audits.

Preferred Education, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certification from BCSP as a CHST, ASP, GSP, or CSP.
  • 3+ years of experience in a construction or industrial safety role.
  • Experience with auditing and construction management software such as Procore, Safety Reports, Insight, or similar apps.
  • Experience with OSHA inspections and citation process.
  • Training certification for M.E.W.P. and forklift meeting new ANSI standards.
  • Training certification for 1st aid/CPR/AED and BBP.
  • Experience or ability to demonstrate strong safety leadership with a faculty for creative problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1926
