Description B&W is seeking experienced Mechanical, Chemical, and Civil Engineering, or similar Engineering Technology degreed personnel, to join our team of talented Field Service Engineers, who provide best in the industry expertise and support on a broad range of B&W utility, industrial, and environmental products to our customers. As a Field Service Engineer III, you will have a tremendous variety of job tasks and activities to keep you busy. These activities can include: being responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of B&W or competitor's equipment; commissioning of new equipment, technical advisor services during the construction phase of major projects; international opportunities; supporting our non-destructive testing (NDT) activities, etc. You will provide hands-on training in the field for the Service Engineers with less experience, all while continuing to grow your own skillset. Forming and maintaining customer relations will be needed and you will work with minimal supervision for the day to day activities. B&W customers include power plants, refineries, mining companies, pulp and paper mills, hospitals, universities, breweries, and various other industries requiring steam or environmental equipment for their generation or production activities. This position requires extensive travel (90%) including driving on client/customer property. Additional duties of the Field Service engineers include:
- Work on existing equipment including: boiler inspections and repair, condition assessments and boiler operation evaluations and tuning.
- Provide Pulverizer rebuild/troubleshooting technical service.
- Collecting and evaluating field data.
- Working with customers, account executives, vendors and sublet vendors with minimal assistance and guidance from the District Engineer (Manager).
- Preparing technical reports, typically documenting work and activities and recommendations.
- Working as part of a team on project startups and during outages.
- Providing construction technical support and outage management.
- Provide assistance in developing project and parts opportunities.
Qualifications Field Service is a fast-paced job providing great job variety. The work provides a challenging and rewarding environment with a steep learning curve in which the engineer develops practical knowledge of power plants and all aspects of B&W products. The qualities we're looking for are:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or similar Engineering Technology.
- Five plus years of industry experience in power plants or equivalent field experience environments.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision required.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- A Self Starter with good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with others.
- Ability and desire to travel.
