Job Description:
In this Field Service role you will provide technical support of field startups of both standard and non-standard switchgear systems, warranty efforts, repairs and preventative maintenance contracts; mostly in an assigned territory. They need people who have switchgear, generator, power distribution and/or electrical supply systems commissioning, troubleshooting and repair experience with anywhere from 480 to 4160v to 15 KV systems. They want people with basic electrical and/or electronic experience, who have an understanding of AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams interpretation shills, knowledge of power distribution and switchgear systems, that they can train on their equipment, including controls, PLCs and HMI automation systems.For the first 6-12 months, depending on your experience and learning ability, you will be training with an experienced FSE until you and your supervisors feel you are ready to go out on your own.In this role, you will travel to customer sites, 30% of your time will be start-ups or the commissioning of projects, 40% will be handling retro-fit upgrades to older systems, the other 20-30% will be troubleshooting and repair jobs. Some days you will not travel and perform paperwork. This is a high, about 75% overnight travel role, when you are doing a start-up or retrofit upgrade. You are usually out the door on Monday and not back until Friday, for service and repair jobs; it may be 2-3 days to one client and a few days at another. You will be given a company vehicle (Chevy Silverado, 1500 or 2500) and they will try to align jobs that are in driving distance to customers within your region, but at times you will need to jump on a plane and fly where the work is, both in your region and out of it, getting paid for all travel time. You will be given your own set of tools and when you fly somewhere you will either share with another FSE or there will be a dealer on site with tools. This position covers the West Coast and some of Central US or East Coast and Canada. Technicians usually earn 2-4 hours of overtime each day when on the road.One of the most important aspects of this job is customer service so they really need people who have strong interpersonal communication and people interaction skills to go along with demonstrated leadership experience. You must also show that you are dependable, can think and act strategically, work autonomously, have a vision and purpose, and have a drive for results.
