Taprogge America is currently seeking a “hands-on” field service engineer to be based out of our Farmingdale, NY office (Taprogge is not offering relocation assistance for this position). The role of Field Service Engineer is an integral part of the Taprogge business. In this capacity the employee will be required to perform mechanical and electrical inspections, testing, and repairs of company supplied equipment as well as supervision of customer/subcontractor personnel working on company-supplied products. As such, this position occasionally requires work in confined spaces. Field Service Engineers also provide appropriate recommendations for performance improvement and training of customer personnel. This includes active solicitation of customer orders for paid service, system consumables, spare parts, and inspections of installed systems which includes travel to customer locations. Extensive domestic, and some international travel is a requirement (approximately 60%).

Other tasks include:

  • Communication with customers
  • Generation of job related documentation, including service and expense reports, time sheets, etc.
  • Support of Service Personnel in the field and communication with Service Coordinator daily to update current and future scheduling

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Mechanical experience including knowledge of electro-mechanical equipment (i.e. troubleshooting and repair skills)
  • Capable of interpreting mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
  • Ability to pass required screening and testing to gain access to secure facilities
  • Strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

The following attributes are a plus but not mandatory:

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish, Portuguese)
  • PLC programming knowledge
  • Prior power plant experience
