Job DescriptionThe Senior Field Service Engineer is the technical advisor, leader and consultant for the Field Services group. The Senior Field Service Engineer position requires an associate who has a comprehensive understanding of industrial products and applications. In addition to advising and consulting, the Senior Field Service Engineer duties will include performing mechanical services such as inspection, repair, maintenance and installation of various types of rotating mechanical transmission products and completion of field service reports. The Senior Field Service Engineer will be able to assist or perform a variety of field service duties and may be asked to lead teams of peers in these types of activities. The Senior Field Service Engineer will also be responsible for training Field Service associatesand/or recommending training in various aspects of the team's service responsibilities. In addition, the Senior Field Service Engineer will be required to interact with and utilize a variety of software types, instruments and computer equipment. The majority of service activities are in North American however, service activities in other countries are common and will occur.Responsibilities:General:
- Provide technical support to external and internal customers
- Provide technical guidance to the Field Services team
- Create technical content as needed to support field service projects
- Perform field service at remote sites in a variety of world regions, locations, environments and conditions
- Perform field service activities including inspection, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and installation of all products manufactured by Regal Rexnord, as well as similar products manufactured by competitors
- Perform field service activities including vibration measurement, equipment diagnostics and drive train alignments
- Document field service activities and results in required formats, (i.e. word processor, spreadsheet, cloud-based template, etc.)
- Train internal and external customers (i.e. product installation, troubleshooting, repair and use, applications, equipment techniques and skills)
- Provide oversight to inventory of repair service components, products, and tooling for field service activities
- Exemplify a culture of maintenance, care and organization of company equipment
- Drive company vehicle on long trips to and from assigned service assignments
- Fly to and from assigned service assignments

- Analyze tools, equipment and process to ensure these are in alignment with business needs

- Provide technical input to Field Service management to drive growth, profitability and efficiencyInterdepartmental Collaboration:
- Work with other departments such as operations, quality, and engineering to ensure alignment and collaboration on key initiatives and projects.
- Work with Regal Rexnord product managers to ensure understanding of the service needs and opportunities of each department
- Coordinate and partner with other Regal Rexnord departments to identify potential machinery faults and opportunities based upon inspection results
- Serve as a liaison between the field service team and various product engineering personnel to clarify technical aspects critical to successful completion of field service projectsCustomer Focus and Continuous Improvement:
- Support a culture of continuous improvement within the Field Service team with particular focus on the delivery of OEM-quality service
- Assist in developing and maintaining service processes, procedures, forms and checklists to improve overall quality and efficiency
- Develop soft tools to facilitate field service projects and to streamline field service processes
- Work with customer site personnel to ensure the service team has a clear understanding of the job scope and to ensure expectations are aligned
- Work with Regal Rexnord sales team, customers and the Field Service team to assist with the alignment of expectations for field service projects
- Conduct interviews with customer decision-makers to collect voice of customer information including customer expectations, feedback on completed service projects and future needs
- Assist Field Service management with the resolution of service problems and customer complaints
- Participate in meetings with customers to discuss/explore additional business opportunities with the goal of increasing sales revenue
- Participate in meetings with Regal Rexnord Sales and product groups to ensure the field services team has a thorough understanding of market trends related to service needs and product changes/developments
- Assist in developing processes and/or techniques to service new industries, products and/or applications
- Assist in developing processes and procedures relevant to services provided by the Industrial Field Services team
- Assist in developing and implementing service standardsRequirements/QualificationsEducation:
- Minimum: Secondary-level (beyond H.S.) industrial/mechanical trade school or apprenticeship diploma/certificate;
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in an industrial/mechanical-based engineering or engineering technology program
- Primary language: EnglishExperience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in one of the following areas: Field Services, Millwright, Machinist, Maintenance/Repair, or Engineering
- Prior experience with rotating mechanical power transmission products, (i.e. gear reducers, motors, bearings, couplings, universal shafts, etc.) preferred
- Industrial maintenance or technical service experience preferred, (hands-on mechanical background preferred)
- Experience and competence reading and interpreting blueprints and other technical drawings
- Experience and competence using measuring tools/equipment (i.e. micrometers, calipers, and dial and electronic indicators).
- Experience and competence with industrial drive train alignment.
