In addition, the position provides or schedules excellent repair, preventative maintenance and installation services to customers within the assigned territory. The functions of a Field Service Technician will be performed under little or no supervision in a timely manner and with acceptable quality.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Travel to assigned customer-based territory in company-provided work vehicle or air travel.
  • Make proactive outbound calls to your customer base, ascertain their needs and advise them on service, equipment or parts purchasing by:
    • scheduling site-visits to audit equipment, meet with Maintenance & Plant personnel & sell spare parts
    • obtaining & coordinating information with aftermarket, engineering, shop and sales departments.
    • creating quotations & promoting Aftermarket parts & service
  • Establish & maintain industry contacts that lead to sales
  • Maintaining up-to-date working knowledge of the customer's industries and their products and services
  • Meeting established sales goals and quotas
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions using test instruments and repair tools
  • Provide technical support to customers and other field technicians
  • Complete various reports such as Service Reports, timesheets, expense reports and parts lists in a timely, accurate and legible fashion
  • Entry of sales and service information into Global Shop from remote laptop
  • Provide log of sales and service visits to manager on a weekly basis
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record and an organized work vehicle with necessary tools, manuals and parts required to provide efficient repairs and installations
  • Assists other departments as required and other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
  • Complete working knowledge of PPM Tech products, processes and procedures or ability to obtain quickly
  • Proven sales experience in maintaining and surpassing established sales goals
  • Ability to speak effectively and professionally with customers one-on-one and discuss technical matters
  • Mechanically inclined to provide hands-on or expert direction when needed for the repair, maintenance, and operation of PPM Technologies products.
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Access
  • Strong communication skills, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read/interpret technical drawings (AutoCAD, blueprints, etc.)
  • Ability to be resourceful in looking for solutions to overcome any issue
  • Ability to travel extensively with trips lasting up to 2 weeks at a time.
  • Acceptable driving record with the ability to travel extensively with little notice prior to travel
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time for automobile travel
  • Must be able to work on-call either by telephone for on the job as business need requires including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must either have or be legally able to obtain a valid passport for occasional international travel
  • Must show good initiative, organization and follow-through.
  • Must work well within a team and at the same time be able to make independent decisions.

Minimum three to five years sales and service-related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks preferred. Previous experience selling or servicing in a manufacturing plant preferred.
