Field Service Technician, Electrical
Description:
A Field Service Electrician is responsible for providing repair services on Heidelberg equipment located at the customer's business. The tech is required to have a basic understanding of electrical systems and components, as well as a fundamental understanding of the tools and processes required to complete system maintenance and repair activities.
Field Service Electricians are responsible for delivering high quality service and customer satisfaction, as well as working well with the team and providing support/coverage as per business needs.
While the technical aptitude of our technicians is vital, customer service is the cornerstone of our business. As a Heidelberg technician, you will be expected to deliver personalized, consistent, proactive, and competent support to our customers.
Skills Required
* Must have ability to understand electrical circuitry, concepts and read wiring diagrams
* Must have ability to interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, and printed instructions to assist in troubleshooting and resolving electrical/mechanical problems on proprietary Heidelberg equipment.
* Be able to provide clear and concise reports relating to technical clarification topics
* Basic Computer skills
* Excellent customer relationship skills
* Know and understand how test equipment works. Knows when, where, and how to use it. Knowledge and skills required, but not limited to, the following:
* Volt/ohm/amp meter (multimeter)
* Current probe
* Megohmmeter
* Thorough understanding of AC & DC circuits
* Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting techniques for electrical/electronic systems.
* Working knowledge of personal computers with Microsoft operating systems
* Knowledge of servos and related controllers including hydraulic and pneumatic, temperature controls
* Utilize a variety of tools such as: hand tools, power tools
* Troubleshoots electrical problems including, but not limited to: PLC systems, VFDs, power circuits, relay logic systems, etc.
Primary Duties are as follows:
* Troubleshoot electrical circuits/ electronic problems on Heidelberg Printing Presses, Color Measurement Systems, basic computer networks and Accessories/Peripheral systems, includes hardware and software
* Use electronic testing equipment, wiring diagrams and applications/tools available on the company's laptop.
* Escalate verbally and via email difficult to solve problems to the technical support group in a timely manner.
* Work with the installation team to install and commission new equipment
* Use product knowledge to communicate clearly, verbally and written, both internally and externally
* Complete all paperwork in a timely manner (i.e., expenses, time sheets, escalation reports, online training courses, car maintenance.)
* Work with the installation team to install and commission new equipment
* Maintain customer satisfaction by troubleshooting, repair and if necessary, escalation of ongoing technical issues in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Associates degree, vocational apprenticeship, or job-related work experience 3-5 years minimum
Travel:
* This position requires travel to customers sites covering the East Region but not limited to this area, the position includes a company vehicle. When traveling outside of this geographical area all airfare, hotels and per diem are supplied.
* Travel is required (67 to 100%)
