Job Description:
The FSO (Field Service Organization) and FST (Field Service Technician) positions are responsible for supporting the implementation, installation, and maintenance of highly technical communications systems at customer locations. The Field Service Technician for the most part handles maintenance on these systems once they are installed and commissioned, driving in a company provided vehicle to client sites each day.They need someone who can provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure. You will need to maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems and provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments. They need candidates who have very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), and you must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges. You will also need to be capable of performing maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.You will also need to show you have strong self-management skills and people skills to work closely with the client?s customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams and that you are self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervisionThey also need a problem solver who can solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.FSTs are assigned to a geographic area or customer and have very little overnight travel (25% at most). FSTs are on call rotation 24/7 to cover public safety customers (usually once every 2 or 4 weeks, depending on number of FSTs in an area. Most clients are within a 4-hour radius, overnights come when you go to a client further than a few hours out and need to be there for more than one day.One of the most important criteria to be successful in this opportunity will be your behaviors.Do you have the following behaviors? Can you work with a team, work independently, leadership skills, respects others, training, assets, have the desire for self-improvement, strong communications skills?You will also need to show that you know communication systems from end-to-end system operation/performance/ deployment and are not just someone who swapped out bad boxes with a new one.They have locations in DFW, Los Angeles, where they need candidates with strong networking, RF, and communications experience and one in Sacramento where they are looking for a more junior tech.Hourly, based on experience and location + up to 15% overtime, bonuses.
