Job Description:
This field service technician will be required to install, wire, connect, calibrate, analyze, troubleshoot and maintain automated traffic enforcement systems, field WAN networks, and surveillance equipment. This individual will also document, install, upgrade or replace hardware and software systems as needed. Candidate must be a hard working and self-motivated individual with high personal ethics. They will be traveling independently within Orange County where they will work with subcontractors and ATS engineering staff to install and maintain photo enforcement systems in the field. Success Factors for Field Service Technician:
  • Complete 95% of jobs within the defaulted Service Level Agreement.
  • Repairs - 5% or less same site, repeat visits within the same month.
  • Installations - no repeat visits within 30 days from initial installation.
  • Achieve 95% inventory accuracy at each month-end.
  • Required to adhere to the company's safety procedures, resulting in zero controllable work-related collisions / incidents.
  • Documentation must be submitted according to policy and procedure and must be thorough, accurate and timely.
Key Responsibilities:•Perform basic electrical work, wiring, and troubleshooting of electrical and data connectivity hook ups for various mechanical and electronic equipment.•Install digital camera systems to street poles, sensors, DSL communications, power & control box•Tuning of red light camera and speed enforcement systems in the field•Support the installation of camera equipment in field, often working alongside subcontractors•Plan and manage maintenance routines•Provide quality control support•Must be able to prioritize, comply with processes and quality checklists•Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, assignments and report service data•Must be able to organize, manage and safeguard truck stock parts and tools.•Effectively communicate with customers and subcontractors in the field, fostering a good working relationship•Maintain a good driving record and a credit card account for expense reimbursement while in field•Conduct studies for new camera sites using equipment that you will temporarily install at intersections•Provide technical training to other personnel and departments as requested•Effectively prioritize, plan and manage time•The individual may be required to testify in a court of law that the equipment was properly set up and tested, and that the results of the tests were accurate, recorded, and prosecutableRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:•Minimum of 1 year experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic components, power and connectivity wiring, computer hardware, etc.•Minimum of 2 years of hands on work with electronics, electronic components, and data/video cabling.•Minimum age of 21 (for corporate insurance coverage)•Ambitious and hard working with a clean driver's license and willing to take pre and post- employment drug testing•Strong electronics and computer skills for configurations and trouble-shooting •Good communication skills •Ability to work independently, responsibly, and safely•Ability to solve problems in the field independently, with judgment to seek help when needed•Ability to work well individually, in teams and with subcontractors•Field work will occasionally require bending and lifting of as much as 50-75 lbs as well as operating hand and power tools•Regular driving and bucket truck operation. •Independently enter and operate the bucket (at heights of up to 32 high so cannot be afraid of heights) and use a ladder•Ability to handle regular exposure to outside elements; accessing cramped spaces.•Extensive travel required throughout US and possibly Canada up to 75% of time.
