General Description of Duties: The Field Supervisor shall possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a supervisor; knowledge of all classes of equipment; and experience as an operator. Will work in a supervisory capacity and will direct and assist with planning projects for the Solid Waste Management Program. Shall plan for the Solid Waste Management Program projects on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The Field Supervisor is under the direct supervision of the OST Solid Waste Management Director.Specific Duties: 1. Supervise, oversee, and direct project personnel on program operations. 2. Operate all types of equipment to complete assigned projects according to program Sight of Operation Plan. 3. Review transfer sites to monitor progress and other duties to maintain compliance. 4. Keep daily reports of all personnel, equipment, and progress on transfer sites. 5. Must have the ability to provide quotes/ estimates for Bid scheduling and equipment, vehicle repair and pricing. 6. Provide work progress reports on assigned projects. 7. Assist the Director in giving activity and program reports related to the Solid Waste Program to the Standing Committee, the OST Land Committee on a regular basis. 8. Inventory all construction equipment and keep maintenance records. 9. Attend training sessions and certifications regarding RCRA Subtitle D. 10. Reviews employment pool and recommends new staff as needed for the program to the OST Solid Waste Management Director. 11. Help evaluate the field personnel for performance reports. 12. Give inventory reports and overall equipment updates.Requirements and Knowledge: 1. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 2. Must be able to operate a semi-tractor and trailer to transport heavy equipment and materials on and off the reservation and maintain equipment on a regular basis. 3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of construction managers and contractors. 4. Physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, including oversight/standing for long periods on various projects reservation wide. 5. Must be able to lift and/or remove up to and occasionally over 50lbs. 6. Required to work in diverse outdoor weather conditions for extended assignments.Qualifications: 1. Must have reliable transportation and valid South Dakota Commercial Drivers License (Class A/B), as employees will drive program vehicles. 2. Must have minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience and truck driving experience.How to Apply: Submit a complete OST Application for Employment to the OST Human Resource Department no later than 4:30 p.m. of the closing date.
