Salary: $86,448.73 - $101,194.55 Annually Location : Hutto, TX Job Type: Full Time Department: Public Works Opening Date: 10/01/2024 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Exempt Position Overview Title: Field Supervisor Department: Public Works Status: Full-Time FLSA: Exempt POSITION OVERVIEW Under the direction of the Utility Superintendent, provides operational expertise to Crew leaders and employees performing equipment operations, technical skills and manual labor relating to construction, maintenance, and repair of the City's water treatment, water distribution and wastewater collection and treatment systems. This position must maintain compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) rules and regulations concerning water and wastewater mains, services, pumps, valves, manholes, lift stations, meter reading and related infrastructure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Performs and oversees repairs to water and wastewater lines, manholes, lift stations, and force mains. This may include but is not limited to plumbing and construction maintenance, operation and repairs.
- Evaluate daily work assignments, coordinating and delegating duties to subordinates as is necessary for timely completion of projects.
- Develops project plans. Coordinates projects. Communicates changes and progress. Completes projects on time and budget. Manages project team activities.
- Displays willingness to make decisions. Exhibits sound and accurate judgment. Supports and explains reasoning for decisions. Includes appropriate people in decision making process. Makes timely decisions.
- Reads gauges, charts, blueprints, meters and other metering devices.
- Maintains inventory of materials needed

- Operates a variety of commercial equipment including but not limited to tractors, trenchers, front-end loaders, backhoes, bobcat, skid-loader and other equipment for a variety of construction and maintenance operations involving water and sewer system maintenance and repairs.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Displays commitment to excellence. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Applies feedback to improve performance. Monitors own work to ensure quality.
- Sets up traffic safety devices such as cones, signs, and barricades as necessary.
- Cleans and repairs work site upon completion of construction including laying grass, replanting trees, and washing down the street.
- Troubleshoots and identifies water and wastewater flow problems, performs corrective action.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Subject to after-hours call out for emergency situations including on call rotation and special events.

- Knowledge of water and wastewater systems

- Ability to attend and understand technical courses and maintain appropriate licenses and certifications
- Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple tasks using effective reasoning in a timely manner, analyzing situations and adopting quick, effective reasonable courses of action
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS Minimum of five (5) years of experience in municipal water and wastewater systems; one (1) year of supervisory experience Valid Texas Class A CDL Minimum of TCEQ Class III Collection License and a TCEQ B Distribution License, or a B Groundwater license PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress that require a range of safety and other precautions, e.g., working at heights, working in manholes and vaults, working in construction sites, frequent/extended exposure to outdoor weather conditions, requirement to work in extreme weather conditions. Must be able to ascend and descend a ladder. Must be able to lift 50lbs, stand, stoop, bend, crawl, twist, and walk.
