We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, skilled, and collaborative field systems engineer. As a Field Systems Engineer at Semtech, you will be the intersection of sales and engineering, working in unison with our Strategic Account Managers to support and build pipelines with product demonstrations and customer Proof of Concepts, as well as with our internal Product Management and Engineering teams to help define customer feature requests.
Job Summary:
The Field Systems Engineer will partner with two Strategic Account Managers supporting the US West region, leading commercial and public sector pre-sales technical engagements with key customers and channel partners, helping to drive revenue generation goals, and meeting and exceeding sales quotas set by SVP of Sales. They are responsible for all pre-sales technical activities. These activities should be executed in unison with the Strategic Account Manager from the earliest stages of the sales cycle through implementation. The successful team member will:
* Thoroughly understanding products, features, functions, and benefits
* Translate customer business needs into Semtech solutions
* Overcome technical objections
* Drive trial and proof of concept integrations
* Be a trusted advisor for both internal and external stakeholders, articulating technology and product positioning at the executive, business, and technical levels of decision-makers and operating personnel.
* Ability to travel up to 30%, mostly within region.

Responsibilities:
* Support Strategic Account Managers and channel partners in a pre-sales technical perspective with end-customer accounts. Collaborate to develop winning strategies and solutions that meet customer needs.
* Building technical relationships with customers and channel partners, and leading all pre-sales activities, supporting demonstrations, proof of concepts, and managing evaluations.
* Maintenance of technical integrity by training, coursework, and competitive intelligence.
* Contribute to internal initiatives within team, Product Management, Development/Engineering, and other organizations
Minimum Qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience in Network Engineering, preferably in a Pre-Sales role (solutions architect, systems engineer, sales engineer, etc.)
* 5+ years of experience in working with a data-specific technical product line.
* 5 years of experience in a sales-oriented technical field.
* 5 years of experience with IP-based wireless technology.
* Technical background in working with a data-specific technical product line, including knowledge of embedded software/hardware and SaaS.
* Technical understanding of wireless data technology 3GPP LTE, 5G, SIM, eUICC.
* Technical understanding of IP networking expertise across all layers of the OSI model and protocols including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, dot1Q Vlans, IPsec Tunnels, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, as well as firewalls.
* Practical use of routing and/or switching, including troubleshooting.
* Great verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills, including drafting and reviewing architectural drawings.
* PC skills require an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adhere to established deadlines.
* Ability to work in a work-from-home environment and maintain performance.
* Maintain a high level of integrity, quality work standards, and service excellence.
Desired Qualifications
* Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification
* Strong knowledge of Docker Container
* Strong knowledge of API integration

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $91,000-$169,000. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education, and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee's total compensation package.
