We're looking for a Field Technician to join our team.
As a Field Service Technician, your role will include unparalleled technical support for our national home improvement retail client, allowing them to experience the best support available within the industry. The candidate shall be a self-starter, have exceptional customer service proficiencies and ability to use communication as an expansive tool to achieve an excellent customer experience. The candidate must conduct their efforts in a professional, businesslike manner and effectively communicate, as well as provide continuous quality in their daily task achievements. The candidate will be self-motivated with excellent time management skills, with the capability to complete projects ahead of schedule. Candidate will support clients IT/Data problem tasks, provide prompt action, and deliver support and resolution for daily technical requirements. The candidate will be consistent with documentation, tracking and monitoring issues, providing notes and feedback as well as make in-field decisions for a positive result.
* Install, terminate and properly label a variety of cable types such as: CAT3, Cat5, Cat6, speaker and coax cabling, with a specific focus for this position on Installing and Terminating Single and Multimode Fiber Optic cable in retail and corporate environments.
* Install a variety of infrastructure equipment, including but not limited to: data racks, patch panels, cable trays, J-hooks, rigid and flexible conduits, etc.
* Preferred experience as a Lead Technician on Infrastructure/Structured Cabling projects.
* Preferred experience with PBX digital and analog telephony, including installing and testing RJ21x and 66-block infrastructure.
* An understanding of WAN circuits, including SDWAN, MPLS, LTE, 5G.
* A strong competency in the troubleshooting of LAN networks. Specifically, you must be able to minimize or isolate Ethernet issues, and then resolve those issues via re-termination of cabling or replacement of network components. An understanding of Cisco switch and router operations, and the typical protocols used within the LAN domain, are essential.
* Familiarity with wireless LAN networks and the installation and maintenance of Access Points.
* Competence with the utilization of scissor and boom lift equipment, being able to work safely and confidently at heights up to 30 feet above ground.
* Preferred experience with 70V amplifier and speaker systems, and an understanding of how to troubleshoot paging and Muzak issues on this infrastructure.
* Proficiency with troubleshooting AC and DC circuits with a multimeter, and the understanding of how to safely troubleshoot and isolate voltage problems.
* The ability to test installed cabling by utilizing appropriate equipment and correctly interpreting test results.
* Read and understand technical drawings, plans, project specifications and work orders.
* Support, train, and instruct field service technicians, remotely and in the field. Work effectively as a member of this team and be a leader.
* Ability to serve as a level 2 support source for troubleshooting technical issues.
* Be prepared to travel on short notice. Travel will normally be by service vehicle, usually less than 250 miles. Travel can require being out of town for up to a week.
* Travel to cover technician outages due to PTO or vacancies.
* Attend training opportunities, sometimes being out of state, and sometimes requiring air travel.
* Complete jobs within established time frames while ensuring the highest quality work and excellent customer service.
* Minimum 1 to 2+ years of IT technical support experience
* Hands on Break-Fix experience
* CompTIA A+ certification (preferred)
* Able to lift 50 lbs.
* Net+ CompTIA certification preferred
* Driver's License (Required)
