Job Description:
The OCONUS Trainer/Field Technician will work onsite CONUS, then deploy overseas to support an ongoing government contract. Successful candidates will have worked with military grade aircraft/drones for at least five years through training classes held within the past five years and have conducted training classes on advanced military equipment.Note: Field Technician/Trainer sub-skill can be mechanical, electronic, or aerostat.Working Procedure:The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of others, duties by the incumbent, nor the question being raised on the proper rate of pay for the assignment.
  • Facilitate course content adhering to industry best practices for training.
  • Facilitate content using technical documentation, including technical manuals
  • Utilize Aerostat system and technical manual procedures to support lecture content
  • Utilize procedures and content of training presentations and technical manuals during facilitation or hands-on training
  • Read and understand schematics, technical drawings and engineering data and reports
  • Conduct classes containing both lecture, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions
  • Perform a wide range of technician tasks including using standard and unique mechanical and electrical hand tools, mechanical disassembly/assembly, wiring, soldering, operating standard and unique test equipment, fabricating aerostat lines, repairing aerostat fabric and handling high-pressure gases
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair the following: mechanical structures, aerostat structures, hydraulic systems, fiber optic components, avionics and electrical components, and ground systems, such as generators, communication and weather systems
  • Serve as a Flight Crew Member conducting the following: pre/post flight, launch/recovery, helium toppings, snubbing, inflations/ deflations, tether inspections, etc.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all emergency procedures for both moored and airborne flight aerostat operations
  • Ability to work on multiple systems and projects
  • Travel to CONUS and deploy OCONUS for extended periods of time
  • Operate general purpose and special purpose vehicles to include man lift operations to heights of 185 feet
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Supporting Work Responsibilities:
  • Getting Information - Independently observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Review and evaluate existing training materials
  • Interview engineers, field support specialists and other trainers or Instructors
  • Write and revise technical manuals
  • Review engineering specifications and design review documents
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Review Field Modification and Field Change notices
Education Requirement:High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of formal technicaltraining (via military or civilian technical schools) is required.Experience Required: Ten years of hands-on experience in performing functional tasks either on an aerostat system or a related industry/military equivalent. Five years' experience satisfies the requirement for formal classroom training. Cross functional skills. Recognized subject matter expert (SME).Travel Requirement: This position is based out of Elizabeth City, NC with extensive travel OCONUS.
