Job Overview
As the Finance Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring smooth execution of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. You will collaborate closely with both the finance team and other departments to drive financial efficiency, improve operational processes, and maintain strong internal controls. Additionally, you will manage financial aspects of client deals, including contract analysis, revenue recognition, and deal structuring to ensure profitable and compliant agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Operations Management: Oversee the execution of daily financial operations, including invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, and expense reporting.
- Deals & Contract Analysis: Review and analyze client contracts and agreements to ensure alignment with financial objectives, pricing models, and payment terms. Support deal structuring to maximize profitability and manage associated risks.
- Revenue Recognition: Ensure that revenue from client deals is recognized accurately and in accordance with accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606 for SaaS models).
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Partner with department heads to prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, and reports. Monitor actual performance against budgets and identify areas of variance.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, monthly close processes, and ad-hoc financial reports for senior leadership.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with teams across accounting, sales, procurement, and product management to ensure smooth integration of financial processes.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure financial operations comply with corporate policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Support internal and external audits as necessary.
- ERP & Systems Management: Oversee financial systems (e.g., ERP, CRM) to ensure accurate data flow and reporting. Assist with system upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Team Leadership: Lead a team of financial analysts and operations staff, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA or CFA designation a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in finance operations, accounting, or related roles, with at least 2 years in a management position. Experience in a software/technology firm is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in financial software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP), and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS) and financial reporting standards.
- Deals & Contracts: Experience with contract review, revenue recognition, and financial analysis of client agreements or deals. Familiarity with SaaS-based revenue models is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
