POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for assisting students to correctly complete applications for federal, state, and local student financial assistance programs. The Financial Aid Advisor must also accurately maintain paper files and computer records required by Education Affiliates standards and by government/agency regulations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides processes and services needed to assist each student in making application for all forms of student financial assistance (Federal, State, Agency, Lenders, Veterans, Employer, etc.).
- Provides entrance and exit counseling for student borrowers. •Performs data entry and file maintenance in the Campus Vue, FAME, and State Guarantee Agency and NSLDS borrower data management systems. •Performs need analysis and financial aid packaging. •Performs verification and correction of financial aid application data.
- Maintains student files, assembles new student information and application packages and other documentation requirements. •Performs default management activity, including data entry in the Campus Vue system for all out-of-school borrowers and maintaining accurate borrower information in Campus Vue, and with any vendors or agencies authorized for default management services.
- Studies and masters all required training materials.•
- Ensures compliance with all state, accrediting and federal financial aid related regulations. Promptly and accurately reports any suspected instances of non-compliance to immediate supervisor (s) and/or higher levels within the organization, as is needed to address and resolve any areas of non-compliance.
- Reviews all student files to ensure accurate funding and full compliance with all applicable statutes, rules and regulations.
- Coordinates with other campus personnel to ensure proper disbursements of federal, state and agency funds to students•Monitors and properly maintains all student account payments and status in accordance with all governmental regulations and the requirements, standards and practices of the School.
- Maintains appropriate relationships with all agencies and governmental entities, including the ED and loan agencies that provide or could provide student assistance to the School's student population.
- Monitors & maintains accurate and timely electronic data entry & reconciliation as required by any funding agency.
- Performs and/or manages return to Title IV calculations, credit balances determination, grant recalculations and ineligible disbursements procedures. Ensures the accurate calculation and timely processing of all refunds.
- Maintains accurate loan repayment and borrower status records, and fully implements the School's default management program•
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.
Minimum Qualifications:The Financial Aid Advisor must have at least three years of significant financial aid work experience, preferably within the private school industry. A BS degree may substitute for work experience.
