We seek leaders who are committed to the community college mission, actively engaged in promoting diversity, and prepared to use their unique strengths and innovation with the goal of student success.Job Description: POSITION: Full-Time Financial Aid Technical Operations Specialist (Technical Specialist): Financial Aid; Haverhill Campus; 37.5 hours per week; Non-Unit Professional Position SUMMARY: Responsible for student information system analysis, development, and support for the Banner Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system as it relates to financial aid administration. Includes testing of Banner, upgrades, and working with functional owners on design specifications as well as modifications to existing functionality. Responsible for the support of all back-end system processes related to student financial aid life cycle and maintaining financial aid data integrity. Support the Director of Financial Aid with the implementation of new federal, state or institutional initiatives and all reporting requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will report directly to the Director of Financial Aid and will be required to perform the following:
  • Configure and maintain the financial aid module to conform to state and federal regulations and user specifications.
  • Manage the financial aid new-year system implementation and daily production schedule.
  • Ensure financial aid data integrity by identifying data issues and working with various college departments to continually improve financial aid data accuracy.
  • Provide technical and functional support, consultation, and training to financial aid staff on the appropriate use of programs.
  • Support the Director of Financial Aid with assessment of the effectiveness of financial aid processes and systems.
  • Contribute to developing policy with the Director of Financial Aid and produce standard financial aid operating procedure manuals for routine processes to facilitate complex transactions and to standardize procedures as needed.
  • Support all back-end system processes including but not limited to assignment of period-based budgets, weekly fund packaging and authorizations/disbursements, creating al running satisfactory academic progress and other processes related to student financial aid life cycle.
  • Work collaboratively with respective teams to design business processes in systems configuration activities including the build, testing, validation, and documentation of financial aid system changes.
  • Assist in the identification of opportunities for implementation of new system features or features not currently in use, make recommendations, and work with end-users to implement features or changes to improve financial aid efficiencies.
  • Create and maintain electronic financial aid student forms and workflow processes.
  • Assist the Director of Financial Aid with the implementation of new federal, state or institutional initiatives.
  • Support the Director of Financial Aid with federal and state reporting including in the development of reports.
  • Maintain financial aid web pages.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.

  • Associate degree
  • Three or more years of professional experience in the financial aid or higher education industry
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to address multiple tasks under dynamic and changing conditions
  • Previous experience creating efficiencies with current processes
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving malfunctions/problems of computer programs or systems in a quick and timely manner
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate business process into functional specifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relational databases and programming with SQL, with demonstrated ability to develop reports
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ellucian Banner experience; Financial Aid module
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Argos
  • Project Management experience
  • Community College experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population
