Job Description

Conduct complex financial and tax accounting activities. Analyze and provide technical interpretation of accounting and income tax law changes specifically in the affordable housing industry. Conduct research on specific tax topics and oversee the tax projections preparation process to ensure data integrity. Work with management toward specific financial objectives.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the investment portfolio reporting process including the calculation of the annual outside tax basis, partnership and partner minimum gain or minimum gain chargeback, and tax capital account balances.
  • Prepare the periodic financial forecast & budget for the equity investment portfolio.
  • Work with the Corporate Tax Department to provide quarterly information necessary for ASC 740 computations, management reporting, financial statement disclosures and the annual income tax return filings.
  • Review and analyze the annual tax returns for the equity investment portfolio to ensure compliance with IRS and state tax credit statutes and regulations.
  • Support the equity investments examination Information Document Requests (“IDRs”). Provide assistance to investors in response to IRS and/or state income tax examinations inquiries.
  • Collaborate with external CPAs to prepare the syndication fund annual financial accounting packages and tax returns for outside investors.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial forecasts to investors.
  • Supervise 1 staff.
  • Perform other projects or duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

    Typically requires a BS/BA degree in Accounting or Tax and a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience. Knowledge of partnership & corporate income tax as well as low income housing industry is a big plus. CPA certification in California is desirable. Requires excellent Excel skills with the ability to conduct complex financial analysis.
