Title: Financial Analyst I Location: Midtown Org Unit: Budget and Planning Work Days: Weekly Hours: 35.00 Exemption Status: ExemptSalary Range: $71,700.00 - $84,300.00 *As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices Position SummaryResponsible for the financial monitoring, analyzing, reconciliation and reporting of departmental financial activities, sponsored program grants, departmental research, clinical trials, industrial agreements and/or other restricted accounts as relevant.Job Responsibilities
  • Develops financial forecasts and/or business plans as needed. Prepares prospective and retrospective financial analyses; coordinates business plan development; develops revenue, compensation and/or expense assumptions.
  • Manages operating and/or capital budgets as needed. Reviews budget proposals for governmental, industry-based and/or private funding initiatives as needed.
  • Designs complex, multilayered financial models to forecast profit/loss statements for faculty recruits, studies, new ventures and/or routine department operations.
  • Creates financial and management routine and ad-hoc reports and analyses: designs and reviews financial, budget, operating and other statistical reports. Independently investigates, explains and corrects discrepancies, variances and deficits.
  • Responsible for reimbursement/disbursement activities as needed.
  • Educates faculty and staff on proper accounting procedures. Audits operations to ensure compliance; tracks issues until satisfactorily resolved.
  • Tracks and records financial activity within the enterprise financial system, databases and/or spreadsheets.
  • Coordinates process improvement projects; recommends actions to improve efficiency and eliminate waste.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
ExperienceBA/BS degree in a Accounting, Business, Economics or Healthcare related field preferred.Accounting experience preferred.Approximately 2-3 years of progressive experience in administration/financial management.Experience within an academic medical center setting preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
  • Experience designing and developing financial models.
  • Detail oriented and superb organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidential and professional relationships with a variety of personnel.
