Job Description:

The Andover Companies is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Accounting team.

Essential Functions

Assist the accounting department by performing robust financial analysis to better support business operations

  • Identification of trends and variance drivers across all business functions including underwriting, reinsurance claims and investments.
  • Build and maintain Finance's Tableau dashboard to provide most impactful and relevant financial metrics.
  • Perform validations over data points to confirm completeness, accuracy and validity.
  • Perform analysis of industry and peer trends.

Perform cost benefit analysis to assess financial impact.

Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts and strategic planning.

Analyze financial performance by reviewing profit and loss statements and other financial reports.

Conduct variance analysis between actual results and budget/forecast, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.

Support the claims department to review development and trends.

Help to maintain and evolve the Enterprise Risk Management program.

Perform capital modelling and risk management assessments. Support periodic assessment of risk, capital modelling stress testing and BCAR analysis.

Prepare reports and presentations for meetings with the Board of Directors, Committees, regulators, rating agencies, third parties, etc.

Perform any other type of analysis that supports companywide strategic and financial goals.

Competencies/Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a Finance, Accounting, Mathematics
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • P&C Insurance experience preferred
  • Possess and apply knowledge of financial analysis principles and practices
  • Knowledge of Tableau is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to handle competing priorities simultaneously
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)
