Responsibilities:We are seeking a proactive and motivated individual to join Origin Materials as our first financial analyst. Reporting directly to the Senior FP&A Manager, you will work closely with all levels of the organization to provide actionable insights and support the company through hypergrowth. The Financial Analyst will participate in all core functions of the Finance team, including budgeting, treasury/cash management, financial reporting, monthly budget vs actuals, forecasting, and system implementation. This role offers unmatched opportunities for professional development due to the company's anticipated growth and ability to join during the formative stage of the FP&A department. This candidate will hopefully grow into the primary business partner for our Caps & Closures business.
- Provide ongoing financial reporting to business partners and help them connect resourcing to business outcomes.
- Partner with Accounting to uphold the integrity of our financial data and enhance the utility of our financial statements.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, utilizing financial systems to gather and analyze data.
- Assist with the creation of presentations and dashboards to summarize financial data for executive management.
- Contribute to the development of financial models for decision making.
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of financial systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and analysis efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, validate assumptions, and ensure accuracy in financial forecasting.
Qualifications:
- Educational requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics or an equivalent field.
- CPA, MBA, CFA, or other relevant graduate degree or certification is a plus.
- Relevant experience
- 1-3 years of experience in corporate finance, public accounting, investment banking, consulting or a similar field.
- Skills and competencies
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and utilizing advanced formulas (xlookup, index/match, dynamic arrays, nested IF statements).
- Knowledge of financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and data analytics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial data using detailed reports and charts.
- Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in financial analysis, reporting, and data validation.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across different levels of an organization.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs, market conditions, and cash constraints while maintaining a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) or FP&A tools (DataRails preferred) is a plus.
- Experience with software implementation/optimization or database management is a plus.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry or at companies experiencing hypergrowth is a plus.
Salary Range: This position is a Level 2 at Origin Materials. The pay range for this position level at Origin Materials is $52,800 - $112,000.
