POSITION DETAILS

We are seeking a proactive and versatile Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this in-office role will collaborate closely with the CFO and VP of Operations, providing critical financial insights and analyses to drive business decisions.

The Financial Analyst will play a pivotal role in the preparation of internal and external financial reports, while taking the initiative to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and enhanced operational efficiency. This high-visibility position is ideal for a detail-oriented and resourceful professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute detailed monthly financial reports at group and regional levels, including mat utilization, fleet performance, and other operational metrics.
  • Collaborate with operations and finance teams to deliver quarterly bank reporting in compliance with financial covenants and lending requirements.
  • Develop and maintain forecasting and budgeting models, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to support strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct freight and Logistics cost tracking and analysis, identifying trends, variances, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Design and maintain custom Business Intelligence (BI) reports to improve visibility into key operational and financial metrics
  • Partner with the VP of Operations to provide actionable insights and financial guidance for optimizing mat utilization and fleet efficiency.
  • Assist in performing ad hoc financial analysis to support special projects, such as new market entry, capital investments, or cost reduction initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

At Dakota, we take on and execute some of the most challenging access projects in the country. To support our success and drive operational excellence, we are looking for a Financial Analyst with these qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of finance or accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, visualization, and using tools like Power BI to enhance operational efficiency and decision making processes.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, macros, and advanced data analysis techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of financial modeling, variance analysis, and operational performance metrics.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with acute attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Collaborative team player with a willingness to adapt and contribute to diverse aspects of the business.
